Have you and your kids been wondering how you’re going to socially distant trick-or-treat? We found a solution that’s not so spooky! This Halloween Candy Slide is the perfect solution for trick-or-treating from six feet away. The idea behind this festive prop is that homeowners can easily slide treats down the pipe right into the hands of their trick-or-treaters. We hope you’re as excited as we are!

First, you need a handful of supplies to get started on your Halloween Candy Slide. Check out the list below and head to your local Buchheit to grab them all! Or place your order online and we’ll bring it out to you!

You’ll also need a hot glue gun, hacksaw, scissors, spray paint and whatever else you want to decorate your slide. Get crafty and upload pictures of your creation to the Buchheit Photo Barn.

  1. Cutting Your Pipes
If you’ve never cut PVC pipe, you’ll be surprised at how simple it is. Grab your saw, measure out and cut the following pieces:
PIPEAMOUNTLENGTH
3 inch17 feet long
3 inch2½ inch long
1 inch124 inches long
1 inch84.25 inches long
1 inch49.125 inches long
1 inch620.5 inches long
1 inch33.5 inches long

  1. Assembling the Parts
Now that you have all the pipes cut to length, you’ll start by assembling the two stands that will serve as the base of the slide. Make note that one stand will be significantly shorter than the other.
  1. Adding Lips
The 3-inch pipe is round, so in order for it to stay on the stands you just made, you’ll need to create “lips” to ensure it stays and doesn’t fall off. Grab your 3-inch pipe and then cut it in half (see below). Use your hot glue gun and put them on the inside of the halves and stick them onto the bottom of the pipe.
  1. Make the Slide Your Own!
Now it’s time for the fun stuff – decorating your candy slide! Have the kiddos help you out with this part and send us pictures to the Buchheit Photo Barn so we can see their handiwork and maybe feature it in a future blog!
