This month’s Buchheit Buddy event is super easy and fun. You only need a few supplies to make this project ROCK. We called in our special Buchheit Buddies, Kali and Kayda to help us with this month’s event. Kali and Kayda, take it away!

Supplies

  • Rocks (we just scoured our yards for some interesting looking rocks)
  • Markers
  • Washers/screws/bolts/old keys etc.
  • Hot glue gun
  • Cotton ball and/or small pom poms
  • Tweezers

Here’s how I made my rock fish.

Instructions – Fish

My rock looked like a fish! Look and see how my rock friend turned out.

  1. Grab your markers and your washers and color them to make them as pretty as you can.
  2. Then, ask mom or dad for help hot gluing them onto your rocks. I thought my rock was shaped like a fish, so I glued the pretty washers on my rock as the fish’s scales.
  1. Next, I grabbed my tweezers and mom added a little bit of hot glue in the center of the bolt.
I grabbed a small pom pom and stuck it in the middle of a bolt. Mom put a small amount of hot glue on the rock and I stuck the bolt on and added a small piece of white cotton for my fish’s eye.
  1. I stuck a little bit of a cotton ball in the middle of the pom pom for my fish’s eye.
  1. Once you’re done, there’s going to be little strings all over as you can see. But you can still gently pull them off, but you HAVE to be careful! This is why it’s good to have mom’s help. (Thanks, mom!)

Instructions – Porcupine

My rock was round so I decided to make him look like a porcupine. What does your rock look like?

  1. I got my screws ready and mom added a little drop of hot glue for me to put each one on, pointy side up.
  2. Mom added glue and I added screws all over, but I left a little room for my porcupine’s head.
  3. On one end of my rock, mom added a little bit of hot glue and I stuck on my key for my porcupine’s head. Look!
  1. Mom put two more dots of hot glue on my key and I grabbed tweezers to stick on little bits of cotton for his eyes.
  2. Then I drew a face on my porcupine! Now he sits in my room and protects me every night!
