Rabbit FeedSo what do we feed this thing? Yet another question I have been asked many times. After the big puppy dog eyes have landed a fatal blow on dad’s heart, and your brand new bunny is in a box in your cart ready to go home with you. Don’t worry dads, it happens to me to. Now I don’t know about other places but I know at Buchheit that is something we specialize in. Feeding animals is our job at work and at home. Not to brag, but we’re pretty good at it too. Do like many others before you and just ask us. The first brand we suggest is Buchheit Rabbit Ration, it covers all of your nutritional needs and it’s priced right. Now if you want to go a little above and beyond we do have a couple others you can purchase.

Metal FeederYou’re going to want to know how to feed him or her.  Well that’s pretty easy,  you can go one of two ways. You can take the easy route which is what I prefer, and get a metal hanging feeder which you fill a couple times a week. My favorite part about the hanging feeder is that it hangs, and that right there saves you so much in the long run. It cuts back on so much waste from them spilling that it will have paid for it’s self in the first month, so it’s always my first choice.

Feeding BowlThe other route is that you can get a bowl. Make sure you get one that’s metal, crock, heavy rubber, or a really heavy plastic. Just a word of warning: if you decide to use a thin plastic, like a cool whip or butter bowl that you have at home, they will chew it up. Plastic in a digestive system is always bad! It can cause severe illness and even death. The ease of cleaning is a bowl’s best quality, but that’s about it. If you decide that you would like to use a bowl just be cautious with your selection.

Now I know I don’t have to explain the importance of feeding your rabbits daily but every rabbit is different. If you use the hanging feeder make sure you check it daily, some will empty it faster than others, and a bowl they will empty almost daily.  So, that’s how you feed that thing. If you have any other questions feel free to ask and as always God bless you and yours.
