Who’s ready for Christmas?  I know my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving as it is the least commercial, but it’s time to think ahead for gifts for special people who you want to show your appreciation for at Christmas time.

I did many hours of research for a previous free class Buchheit’s hosted on DIY Cleaning Solutions.  I like to be thorough, so I dove into the world of essential oils.  I was surprised at all the uses for the essence of plant-based oils and taken aback by the impostors out there who try to convince you their product is the best when in reality, many of them are watered down.  I spent time looking into the Grandma Bea’s line of products.  I wouldn’t use or recommend them if they weren’t excellent.  I tested them against other products I previously used, and I asked pointed questions to the maker of the products as well.  I now use Grandma Bea’s essential oils as I am confident in her products and her price point. Here are ways we can use essential oils and give an inexpensive and fun gift for Christmas.

I made this from several recipes online. The main difference is the use of sucanat, a natural sugar that has a coarse texture.  Natural sugars are great to use in bath and hand scrubs.

The recipe for Manly Man Hand Scrub:

  • 1 ½ cups sucanat raw sugar or any other unrefined sugar–sugar acts as a mild abrasive to power off the grime
  • ½ to ¾ cup olive oil or coconut oil (if using coconut oil, heat it in the microwave on a low setting until it melts)–Less oil is needed when using regular raw sugars
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons honey (cheap honey is okay)
  • Essential Oil – whatever scent you like–some suggestions:  peppermint, sage, frankincense, or Grandma Bea’s Protection (much like Thieves’ Oil)

You will be amazed at how quick and easy this gift is to make!

Add ½ cup olive oil to the sucanat and blend well.  Then add the two tablespoons of honey.

Mix the honey in well and add the Essential Oil.  I am using Protection as it will promote healing for my husband’s hands that always have cuts and abrasions.

All that’s left to do is fill a mason jar and slap on a lid.  I like the small wide-mouth jars available at Buchheit.  Hand scrub is a fun, and simple gift that your kids could help you make too.

Hope this is helpful!  May this be the best Christmas ever!  Hugs, Annie
