Tis the Season! We bake, cook, wrap, and shop! Lots of shopping and decisions for just the right gift for each unique person (and pet) on our Christmas list. When my boys were small, and we had a long list of items needed for that proper Christmas memory, I started shopping the day after Christmas and shopped throughout the year. This tactic helped spread out the cost of Christmas gifting.
Whatever the length of your list, getting organized and developing a plan of attack makes for a less stressful holiday.
Like many of you savvy shoppers, I love sales. One of my favorite sales of the year is coming up on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at all the Buchheit Stores. Ladies’ Night (which features an extra 10% off regular, sale and clearance items) is when I stock up on not only items for the holidays but common items that I use all year long.
For example, I love Grandma Bea’s line of essential oils! So, I take advantage of a sale and save money. I have done all the research on essential oils and how much they can differ in quality. Grandma Bea’s is one of only three suppliers that I purchase. It is also the best buy of the three as pure “essential” oils are costly to manufacture. I know the owner of Grandma Bea’s and her commitment to excellence is commendable.

I also am a sucker for clever kitchen tools and gadgets like this salsa/dip holder. It’s charming and functional! While I am not a girly girl, I do like a well-crafted doodad.
This was my favorite purchase from last year’s event, baby chicks! They were not only on sale, but I got the Ladies’ Night discount on the starter feed as well. I love how Buchheit maintains certified stock from reputable hatcheries, even in the fall. For us die-hard brooders who know that if we “start” chicks in fall we will have fresh laying hens by spring. These pullets are enjoying a moment of warmth in my greenhouse window to soak up some sun and vitamin D.
