National FFA Week is February 18th to 25th. This week began in 1947 after the National FFA Board of Directors designated the week of George Washington’s birthday as National FFA Week in recognition of his legacy as a farmer and agriculturist. It provides a great opportunity for FFA members, alumni, and sponsors to advocate for agricultural education and FFA. This organization began in 1928 when 33 students from 18 states gathered in Kansas City, Missouri. Future Farmers of America was founded to bring back interest to farming and offer great opportunities for self-expression and for the development of leadership. Since its founding in 1928, the millions of agriculture students have donned the official corduroy FFA jacket. Now spanning 50 states and two U.S. territories, the FFA has 629,267 active student members from 7,757 FFA chapters. The National FFA Organization remains committed to the individual student, providing a path to achievement in premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. FFA continues to remain committed to the individual student, providing a path to achievement in premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education. FFA continues to help the next generation rise to meet those challenges by helping its members to develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of agricultural career pathways.
